Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM has been practiced for over 3000 years. It is a holistic approach to human ailments and diseases that views and treats the human body as a whole. TCM views a person as an energy system in which the body and the mind are united. It is based on theories of Yin and Yang (the balance between two aspects of the world), five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water), Qi (energy), Zang-Fu (physiological function and pathological change of organs), blood and body fluid.
TCM is a general term used to encompass treatments with acupuncture, herbal and nutritional therapy, restorative physical exercise, massages, and moxibustion. Other aspects of TCM include electroacupuncture (the use of fine microcurrent technology), diet / lifestyle, cupping (use of glass cups as suction devices to stimulate blood circulation), Qi Gong (breathing exercise), Tai Chi (physical exercise) and meditation.
